The project concerns the configuration of an old vacation house into a short term accommodation rental (airbnb type). The residence is part of a circular architectural complex of an old mansion that was at its height about 100 years ago and was located in the centre of a very rich productive community in a natural paradise with running spring water, orchards with lemon trees, orange trees, vines and a great number of olive trees. The office team undertook the study and supervision of the renovation. The aim was the preservation and the enhancement of the traditional character of the house and at the same time its full functional utilization during its new use. All the walls and the staircases of the residence have been coated with natural mortars (kourasanit-gaia colors) in colors of Corfu architecture, that give the space a unique warmth and lend the residence an eco friendly identity.

The residence has three bedrooms of 10sq.m. each and a comfortable fully equipped kitchen of 13sq.m. with a dining area, which was redesigned to facilitate a large group of 6 people. The bathroom is reminiscent of a nest with a view of the Ionian Sea that our ancestors crammed under the wooden staircase that leads with 12 relatively steep steps to the loft and the rooftop terrace of the residence. We did not change the positioning of the bathroom, so as not to modify the ancestral architecture and to maintain the ability to accommodate a greater number of people.
